WANDERLENS: Bravo, brava IRONMAN 70.3 (Aug 5, 2012)

These photos were taken at the tail end of the cycling leg but it was still worth going out to catch what is left of the race. There are always stories to tell from the shots taken.

Seeing these participants give a go for 70.3 is already a rush in itself. Truly when one can conquer 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21 km run - hats off to them.

But the deeper lesson is that 70.3 is not achieved overnight. It starts with the iron will determination to succeed. And that drives the passion and energy to train and log in the miles to prepare for the actual event. This meant waking up early and doing rounds after work, for some. That meant daily deposits to build up the stamina and endurance.

It is about conquering the self and overcoming the elements to reach the finish line. And it is about taking stops along the way to refresh and of the people who are on the side to lend their hands.

Life musings: Life is a race until we reach the finish line. And it is in the determination, practice and overcoming obstacles along way that victory is gained. And as a reflection heard on the airwaves today, it is fine to start strong but it takes a combination of prayer and constant discipline to end strong as well. Someone may have repeatedly hurt us, then we repeatedly forgive. We may face challenging times in our careers, relationships and life in general, but challenges are never permanent and we learn and become stronger for every victory.
